Ronald Penner Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by San Tan Mountain View Funeral Home and Advance Planning Center from Feb. 3 to Feb. 4, 2022.
It is with great sadness that I have to announce the passing of my dear husband, Ronald (Ron) Penner, on Monday January 31 ,2022 at the age of 71

Ron lead an active and busy life. He started his career in Brandon, Manitoba, in electronics.

In 1981, while visiting relatives in Hinton, Alberta , Ron applied for a job at the pulp mill.

He was hired immediately. He worked at the mill for 34 years, starting in the wood room and working his way up to the fiber line. He loved his job and worked there until retirement in 2015.

Ron loved living in Hinton. He was always an avid outdoorsman, quadding, fishing, cross country and down hill skiing were among his favorite activities.

We always had some type of RV and did lots of camping in the Hinton area, BC, and the Oregon coast, where he loved to crab fish.

We did many fishing trips with our boat to the Kitimat area and would stay out on the ocean for 3 or 4 days.

In later years we ventured further away. The most notable of our holidays being a grand European river cruise and a trip to Vietnam, Cambodia and Thailand.

After retirement, we began spending our winters in Arizona, in the San Tan Valley area.

We made so many wonderful friends there. Most of them being members of our "walking group". We enjoyed the area and loved the warm weather, and our weekly golf game with our dear friends. Ron loved road trips and we explored many areas around us, taking a picnic lunch and sightseeing.

Ron enjoyed good health most of his life. In 2011 he was diagnosed with COPD, which worsened in December 2021.

Ron golfed 18 holes on Sunday January 30, and had the best game he's had in years, getting a birdie on a par 4. He was in great spirits and he just told me "I love my life"

Ron loved our 2 little dogs, Murrie and Flynn, one of the highlights of his life was when we took them for their daily walk.

Ron and I would have been married 54 years this September 2022.

I love you with all my heart and will hold on to the great memories forever.

Rest In Peace my wonderful husband til we meet again.

Ron loved his family very much, he was never considered an in law in the Bales family, but a brother to George and Pat, Stan and Gemma and Ronald and Gail.

He loved his sister, Fran, and planned to visit her in Manitoba this summer.

Ron had numerous nieces and nephews that he just adored and he would often say how proud he was of them and what wonderful people they had grown into.
