COAL VALLEY-Ronald L. Pitra, 87, of Coal Valley, passed away Friday, April 22, 2022, at his home.
Cremation rites have been accorded and private services will be held. Esterdahl Mortuary & Crematory, Ltd., Moline, is assisting the family.
Ronald was born on December 29, 1934, in Osage, Iowa, the son of Joseph and Anastasia (Trnka) Pitra. He married Patricia Ragon on June 18, 1955, in Moline. He attended trade school for pattern making and went on to become a metal pattern maker for John Deere, retiring after 38 years. He served as the former union president. Ronald enjoyed working on cars, especially his 1957 Chevy. He enjoyed working outside and could fix just about anything. Ronald loved spending time with his family and attending his grandchildren's sporting events.
Survivors include his wife, Patricia; children, Kelly Newman, Sherri Johnson, Darren Pitra, and Brian (Julie) Pitra; grandchildren, Chris Johnson, Alyssa Johnson, Ryan Pitra, and Paige Pitra; and brother-in-law, Don (Joanne) Ragon.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Joseph and Anastasia, and son-in-law, Tony Johnson.

Pat, sorry to learn of Ron´s passing. I understand the loss of your spouse after so many years together. Lean on your family and friends in the days ahead. I have fond memories of our days growing up with you and Ron and all the kids in our neighborhood outside playing together.
