Ronald J. Ploof, Sr. 6/17/59 - 11/26/25
Ronald J. "Ron" Ploof, Sr., 66, of Colchester, Vermont, passed away on November 26, 2025, after a long illness. Born on June 17, 1959, to James and Beverly Ploof, Ron was a devoted dad, granddad, son, brother, uncle and faithful friend. His family was the center of his world, and he cherished every moment he shared with them.
Ron approached life with care and intention. He was especially proud of his hobby of refinishing antique dressers, where his patience, craftsmanship, and eye for detail shined through in every piece he restored.
Ron loved deeply and was deeply loved in return. He is survived by his mother, Beverly Ploof of South Burlington; his son Ben Ploof and Ben's fiancée, Pondz, along with his granddaughter, Rayna, of Midway, Georgia; and his son Ron Ploof, Jr., and granddaughter, Kayleigh (Martin) Divenuti.
He also leaves behind his sisters Elaine Ploof (Jon Fay), Donna Agan, Brenda (Tim) Peyko, and Theresa Randall (Rob Forti); his brothers Jim (Sherry) Ploof, Brian (Lori) Ploof, and Kevin (Rose) Ploof. Ron had many nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles and cousins who will miss him dearly. He was a loyal friend to many, especially his lifelong friend of fifty years, Dave Demers, and Dave's wife, Joy.
Ron was predeceased by his father, James Ploof, Sr., his brother, Steven Ploof, Sr., and his brother-in-law, Craig Agan.
Visiting hours in Ron's honor will be held from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday, December 10, at LaVigne Funeral and Cremation Service, 132 Main Street, Winooski, Vermont. A graveside service will be held at the convenience of the family.
Ron's quiet strength, gentle spirit and the love he showed so openly will stay in the hearts of all who knew him. May his memory be a blessing and a reminder of all that is good in this world.
