Ronald D. Reece, a beloved resident of Rayland, Ohio, after being raised in Tiltonsville, peacefully passed away after a prolonged illness at the Weirton Medical Center in Weirton, West Virginia, on Tuesday, July 1, 2025. Born on August 9, 1947, in the charming town of Martins Ferry, Ohio, he was the cherished son of the late Paul D. and Deborah Giffin Reece. At 77 years old, Ron's heart was filled with fond memories, especially of his grandmother, Pearl Reece, who played a crucial role in his upbringing after his mother's untimely passing. Ron dedicated his career to serving his country, first as a proud member of the U.S. Navy, where he was honored to serve during the Vietnam War, play for the Navy football team, deliver classified messages to three different presidents, and serve in forty-four countries. After two decades of service, he transitioned to a fulfilling role as a federal security agent with the Social Security Administration. His commitment to duty was matched only by his passion for community; he was an active member of the Yorkville Methodist Church, where he found solace and camaraderie. Growing up, Ron excelled in athletics, leaving a remarkable legacy at Warren Consolidated High School, where he was a standout player on the undefeated football team and took to the court as a basketball player. His fervor for Ohio State football was unwavering, and he was a dedicated gun enthusiast and proud member of the NRA. Ron was preceded in death not only by his parents and grandmother but also by his dear sister, Donna Reece; his uncle, Dorwood Reece; and his stepson, Darrell Coram, all of whom left a void in his heart. He is survived by the love of his life, his wife, Mary Coram Reece. Together, they built a life filled with love, laughter, and unforgettable moments. Ron leaves behind his devoted daughter, Jennifer Cross, along with his sons, Christopher (Stephanie), Babcock, Ronald Reece, and Scott Reece. He also treasured his relationships with his two sisters, Joan Ellen (Bruce) Kramer and Karen Campany. His legacy lives on through his special grandson, Paul Mullins-Reece, along with several other grandchildren, a great-grandchild, and a niece and two nephews. A celebration of Ron's remarkable life will be held at the Arner Funeral Chapel in Chester, West Virginia, on Saturday, July 12, at 12:00 p.m. His friend, Pastor Tom Thomas, will lead the service, paying tribute to Ron's legacy with heartfelt words and memories. Full military honors will be presented by the U.S. Navy Honor Guard and the VFW Post 6450 Honor Guard. Friends and family are invited to gather and share their condolences at the funeral home two hours prior to the service, from 10:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m., as they honor a life well-lived and a spirit that will never be forgotten.
