Ron Rett, 71, loving husband, father, and grandfather, passed away with God's grace into eternal life on December 21, 2022.
Ron began his career teaching then went into sales. However, he found his love and life calling when he became associated with the National Alliance On Mental Illness (NAMI), where he served in many capacities. He most recently held the position of Executive Director of NAMI Summit County, which he maintained for 10 years. Ron had a passion for helping those with mental illness and their families. He touched the lives of countless people in his work. The annual NAMIWALK was especially important to him. Ron was a faithful member of the 7 am Mass group at St. Hilary. He was known and loved for "That Smile".
Ron is survived by his loving wife, Debbie; his 3 sons, Tony (Kendra) and granddaughter Elise, Nick and grandsons Enzo and Felix, and Mike (Anna). Additionally, he is survived by his 5 step-children, Tara (Andy) Mostoller, Steve (Charlene) Schultz, Jeremy (Susie) Schultz, Eric (Shawna) Schultz, Anna (Damon) Pearce; along with grandchildren, Johnny, Ben, Katie, Allyson, Ryan, Anna, Nathan, Aubrey, Danny, Olivia, Bella, MacKenzie, Emily, Sawyer, Mikey, and Bobbie. Also his brother, Gary (Sharon); and nieces and nephews. Ron leaves behind special friends, Leslie Stoyer, James, Michael, and Taunia.
Ron was preceded in death by his first wife Sue, his parents Charles and Sarah, and his brother, Brian.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11:30 am on Friday, December 30, 2022 at St. Hilary Catholic Church, 2750 W Market St. Fairlawn. Calling hours will be one hour prior to the service on Friday at the church from 10:30-11:30 am. Burial of cremains will follow the Mass at Moore's Chapel Cemetery, 1631 N. Hametown Road, Akron.

Ron's purpose in life was to support families in need. We know this first hand. He did this better than anyone we know. What a great legacy! R.I.P. our good friend, Jerry and Sue Lauer.
