Ronald Rice Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Wasik Funeral Home - Gendernalik Chapel - New Baltimore on Mar. 16, 2026.
Ronald Thomas Rice, of Chesterfield, Michigan, passed away on March 16, 2026, at the age of 83. He was born on February 15, 1943, in Detroit, Michigan, to the late Russell and Anna Rice.

Ronald married the love of his life, Diane Elizabeth Boza, on January 9, 1965, at St. Raymond Church in Detroit. They shared 57 years together and raised three beloved children: Sheryl Ann, Steven Thomas, and Susanne Elizabeth. His beloved wife, Diane Elizabeth Rice, preceded him in death on October 14, 2023. Together, they built a life centered on family, love, and countless cherished memories.

Ronald proudly served in the U.S. Army from March 21, 1961, to February 21, 1964. During his service, he was part of Nuclear Weapons Maintenance and held the rank of Sergeant.

Ronald began working for Chrysler in 1964 as a tool and die maker and retired on June 30, 2007, after 43 years of dedicated service. He was known for his strong work ethic, craftsmanship, and pride in his work. Outside of his career, Ronald had a natural talent for fixing things and could often be found working on projects around the house. He was especially skilled in electrical work and enjoyed installing light fixtures and helping family and friends with repairs whenever they needed him.

A devoted family man, Ronald loved spending time with those he cared about most. He looked forward to celebrating birthdays, holidays, and special events with his children and grandchildren. Some of his favorite traditions included annual family trips to Frankenmuth for dinner and spontaneous day trips or overnight stays at the casino with Diane.

Ronald also enjoyed the simple pleasures of life. In his free time, he loved playing cards and gathering with his closest friends for card nights filled with laughter and friendly competition. Whether it was a family dinner, a holiday celebration, or a quiet evening with friends, Ronald valued the time he spent with the people he loved.

Ronald is survived by his children, Steven Thomas (Heidi) Rice and Susanne Rice. He was the loving father of the late Sheryl Ann Rice. He was the proud and devoted grandfather of Faith White, Macy Rice, Parker Rice, and Grace White.

He is also survived by his youngest brother, James Rice (Phoebe). He was preceded in death by his siblings, Russell Jr. Rice and Betty Rice, Robert Rice and Darlene Rice. He is also survived by many loving nieces, nephews, great-nieces, great-nephews, extended family members, and dear friends.

Visitation for Ronald will be from 2:00 - 8:00 p.m. on Thursday, March 19, 2026 at the Wasik Funeral Home located at 35259-23 Mile Road in New Baltimore.

Instate at 9:30 a.m. until a 10:00 a.m. Funeral Mass on Friday, March 20, 2026 at St. Isidore Catholic Church located at 18201-23 Mile Road in Macomb.

Sorry to hear of Ron´s passing, he was a close and great friend from card club. He and Dianne were always happy and loved to kid around, especially him and myself at card club and Christmas walk-a-round. He will be sorely missed. GOD BLESS YOU RON..
