Ronald "Ron" Wynja was born June 11, 1952, a twin son of James and Elizabeth (DeLeeuw) Wynja in Sheldon, Iowa. He grew up on a farm near Melvin with his three brothers and one sister. In high school, Ron moved in with his Uncle and Aunt, Pete and Donna Vonk and milked cows at their dairy. He graduated from Sioux Center High School in 1970.

He enjoyed gardening, spending time in the garage, trips to the Black Hills with Kathy, and ice fishing trips with his brother. He loved visiting with his grandkids, watching their sporting events, and was very proud of their accomplishments.
Those left to cherish his memory are his wife of nearly 54 years, Kathy; his children, Kevin (Julie) Wynja of Dell Rapids, SD and Kami (Chris) Schulz of Denison, IA; grandchildren, Carter Wynja, Claire Wynja, Kyler Schulz, Kiana Schulz, and Karson Schulz; siblings, Barbara (Craig) Sorensen, Michael (Kay) Wynja and Mark (Marsha) Wynja, all of Melvin, IA; along with many nieces, nephews, cousins and extended family.
