Ronald Eagle Rosenberg

RONALD EAGLE ROSENBERG, of Tucson, AZ, passed away of COVID in Cuernavaca, Mexico in February 2021 at the age of 73. Ron died like he lived – fearlessly doing what he felt was right.

From early childhood, Ron was always a free spirit and always his own man. He was born at Vaughan Memorial Hospital in Selma, AL on August 18, 1947 to Richard “Billy” and Elsye Eagle Rosenberg. He grew up in Selma and attended school there until his senior year in high school, when he transferred to the Stockbridge School, a progressive private school in Stockbridge, MA. He later graduated from Antioch University with a degree in Psychology and went on devote his life to helping people.

Ron worked in a variety of fields, but his life was defined by his beliefs, not his career. He had an incredible heart and worked tirelessly for human rights for most of his life, particularly migrant rights. His affinity for Latin American people and culture led him to purchase a retirement home in beautiful Tepoztlán, Mexico in 2020. It was while staying there that he succumbed. At the time of his passing, Ron was in the process of setting up a charity together with a mission in Guatemala to provide health kits and counseling services to migrant women and girls. He was also instrumental in setting up accessible medical care for migrants and other people in need.

Ron was cremated immediately in Mexico and was finally repatriated to his family in the U.S. in September, 2023. Family and friends conducted a memorial service on Zoom on October 16, 2021 in both English and Spanish.

Ron’s interment ceremony will be held on April 20, 2024 at 1 p.m. at Live Oak Cemetery in Selma.

Ron brought vibrance, humor, a zest for life, love and intense caring wherever he went. The world will miss this man of graciousness and humility.
