David Neal Pearce passed away February 11, 2026 at the age of 71. He was born July 9, 1954 to the late Nealy D. Pearce, II and Linda Cox Pearce.
For over 25 years, David served as a forest ranger with the Alabama Forestry Commission. His commitment to the land and its beauty was matched only by his commitment to fostering a love for nature in the hearts of others. After retiring from the commission, he turned another page in his life, becoming the captain of Rock Lobster, a charter boat business based in Orange Beach, Alabama. For around a decade, he shared his love of the ocean and fishing with guests, guiding them through memorable adventures on the water.
Outside of his remarkable career, David was a fervent lover of hunting, constantly drawn to the thrill of seeking turkey, duck, deer, and dove. His appreciation for the outdoors was evident in every aspect of his life, and those close to him often found him relishing quiet moments in nature, appreciating its serene beauty.
He is survived by his wife of 39 years, Laura Jones Pearce; son, Matthew W. (Jeanne) Pearce; step-son, Thomas J. Nabors, IV; brother, Kent (Toi) Pearce; sisters, Donna (Bill) Miller, Jill (Andy) Jordan and Rebecca Lane Pearce; granddaughters, Kaydence Pearce and Skylar Pearce and numerous nieces and nephews.
The family will hold a memorial service to be announced soon.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial donations be made to St. Jude Children's Hospital.
