Ronald J Rup (87) of 27 Killoran Drive Essex Junction, VT Beloved Father and Husband of the late MaryJane (Perkins) Rup, passed away peacefully surrounded by his family November 19, 2024, after a long illness.
Born in Greenfield, Ma June 26,1937 to the late Joseph and Mary (Gromaski) Rup of Whately, Ma where he was raised. A graduate of Frontier High School class of 1955 where he was active in sports. He went on and became a graduate of Norwich University in Northfield, VT in 1959.
Ronald married his beloved wife MaryJane on November 12, 1960. They made their home and raised their children in Vermont where his wife was born and raised. Ronald worked for Kellogg's, S.S. Pierce, and Johnson State College in Vermont before starting work at IBM in Essex Junction, Vermont. He retired from IBM in 1993. Ronald loved sports, but his favorite was hockey. He enjoyed watching his sons play and became an avid fan of Norwich University Hockey games which he attended with his wife.
Ronald was predeceased by his son Todd E. Rup in 2000 and His wife MaryJane, August 6, 2024.
He leaves behind his son, Ronald J Rup, Jr., daughter Robin A. (Rup) Butman and husband William, Son Sean E. Rup and Wife Mary (Truax) Rup. Grandson Travis S. Rup and wife Erin, Granddaughters Anastasia Rup, Bridget Venezia, Skylar Rup and Great Granddaughter Nora Rup. Very special friends Clay and Priscilla Rich and Howard and Ann Osborne. Ronald will be greatly missed by his family and friends.
The family thanks the UVM Health Hospice team, especially Sandra and Julie, who have helped the family the past few months. Ronald's wishes were to have no formal services, and a celebration of life will be held at a future date. In Ronald's honor the family request donations be made to UVM Home Health and Hospice.
