March 9, 1938 - September 10, 2025

Ronald F. Sabatka, 87 of Weston, NE, entered into eternal rest on Wednesday, September 10, 2025.

He was born March 9, 1938 in Wahoo, to Anton and Lillian (Pospisil) Sabatka. He received his elementary education in a one-room school, District #99 and attended Wahoo High School for two years before graduating from Valparaiso High School in 1955.

In the fall of 1955, he attended Luther Junior College and received an Associate Arts Degree. In the fall of 1957, he enrolled at the University of Nebraska Agriculture College, where he was affiliated with Alpha Gamma Roh Fraternity. In the spring of 1959, he graduated with a Bachelor of Science Degree in Animal Science and a minor in Agronomy.

Ron served eight years in the USNR while in college and immediately following. On September 6, 1961, he married Rose Marie Lapour of Wahoo. They made their home on a farm just outside of Weston. From this union two sons were born, Randal and Ryan. On January 14, 1981 Rose Marie passed away quite suddenly. On September 24, 1983, he married Rose Marie (Malousek) Hartshorn at St. John Nepomucene Catholic Church in Weston.

Ron was a lifelong farmer. He loved every aspect of his farm life. He was also a very caring person with a huge heart. He was always asking and making sure everyone in his circle of family and friends were doing well. He enjoyed gardening, playing cards, and carpentry work in his free time.

Ron was a devoted and active member in his community. He was active in 4-H and served as Director of Lower Platte North N.R.D., Director and Past President of Saunders County Feeders, Saunders County Pork Producers, Director of Saunders County Agricultural Society, Wahoo State Bank board member, Weston Vol. Fire & Rescue Dept and a member of St. John Nepomucene Catholic Church.

Ron is survived by his wife, Rose Sabatka; son, Ryan (Melissa) Sabatka; stepchildren, Dave (Cathy) Hartshorn, Doug (Barb) Hartshorn, Darrin (Amy) Hartshorn; 13 grandchildren; 5 great grandchildren; sister, Carol (Plas) Johnson and numerous nieces and nephews

He was preceded in death by his parents, Anton and Lillian Sabatka; first wife, Rose Marie Sabatka; infant son, Randal Sabatka; brother, Darrell (Connie) Sabatka; sister, Elaine (John) Montgomery; stepson, Nicholas Hartshorn.

Mass of Christian Burial, Wednesday, September 17, 2025, 10 a.m., at St. John Nepomucene Catholic Church in Weston. Visitation, Tuesday, September 16, 2025, 5 to 7 p.m., with a 7 p.m. Rosary all at the church. Interment at St. John Cemetery, Weston.
