Ronald H. Savage, 86, of Carmi passed away on Sunday, September 14, 2025 at SSM Good Samaritan Hospital in Mt. Vernon, IL. He was born in Centerville, IL the son of Harry and Bertha (Heil) Savage. Ron married Linda Lou Allison on June 26, 1959 and she preceded him in death on October 27, 2022. Ron had worked with is his brother-in-law, Louis Fulkerson at his filling station before going to work for the City of Carmi. He began in the Street and Alley Department and retired after 25 plus years as the Water Department Foreman. Ron had attended Cherry St. General Baptist Church and enjoyed being outside, especially at the farm with his animals, along with gardening and being a handyman.
Ron is survived by his daughter and son-in-law, Lisa and Tom Alcock of Bloomingdale, IL; a sister, Donna Neal of Evansville, IN; nieces and nephews, Beth (Scott) Conner, Mike Blackford, Jana Mitchell, Connie O'Neal, Cathy Fulkerson, Barbara Masterson, Deanna Short, Janet Stewart and Judy Savage; and his loyal dog, Tucker. He was preceded in death by his parents, wife of 63 years, Linda; two sisters, Betty Blackford and Thelma Fulkerson; two brothers, Owen Savage and Jack Savage; and a nephew, Charles Savage.
Graveside Funeral Services and burial for Ronald H. Savage, 86, of Carmi will be held at 10:30 a.m., Tuesday, September 16, 2025 in Centerville Cemetery north of Carmi. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in Ron's name to Pets at Risk, PO Box 2, Carmi, IL 62821 and will be accepted at Campbell Funeral Home, 609 W. Main St., Carmi, IL 62821 who is assisting the family with arrangements.
