Mark Anson Jones,75, of Carmi passed away on Tuesday, December 2, 2025 at his residence in Carmi. He was born on March 11, 1950 in Macomb, IL the son of George and Lorraine (Miller) Jones. He graduated from East Richland High School. Mark married Cindie (Davis) Jones on July 16, 1977 and shared over 48 years of marriage together. Cindie was a cheerleading sponsor for the high school in Olney and Marks sister, Lisa, was a cheerleader, but they needed another male chaperone for a trip for the cheerleaders and football players, so Lisa asked Mark and that is how he met his wife Cindie.
Mark worked in the family business at Rural King with his siblings. He was a member of the VFW because he was a Vietnam Veteran. His hobbies were motor homing, camping, racing, classic cars, yard work, golf cart rides, building/fixing things, being with family and friends. Mark was always a jokester/prankster and an overall hilarious guy with excellent “one-liners”.
Mark is survived by his wife, Cindie (Davis) Jones of Carmi; mother, Lorraine Jones of Olney, IL; children, Shane Jones of Colorado Springs, CO, Kira (Anthony) Sexton of Carmi, Trent (Lauren) Jones of Evansville, IN, and Tasha (Zachary) Dawson of Scipio, IN; grandchildren, Perry Dawson, Merritt Dawson, Hunter Sexton, Taylor Jones, Tegan Jones, Ashton Jones, and Addison Jones; siblings, Kathy (Richard) Leathers, Brad (Susanne) Jones, Greg (Darva) Jones, George (Robin) Jones, Lisa (Doug) Crocker, and Paul (Donna) Jones; in-laws, Mary Davis, Debbie Hixon, Tom (Cheryl) Davis, and Nancy (Mike) Eden; several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his father, George Jones; father-in-law, James Davis; brothers, Ura “Gene” and Brent Jones.
A celebration of Mark’s life to share memories will be held on Saturday, December 6, 2025, at Campbell Funeral Home in Carmi, at 4:00 p.m. with full military honors by the Carmi American Legion and Carmi VFW. Friends may visit from 2:00 p.m. through 4:00 p.m. at Campbell Funeral Home in Carmi. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to White Co. Ambulance Service or Hospice of Southern Illinois and will be accepted at Campbell Funeral Home, 609 W. Main St., Carmi, IL 62821, who is assisting the family with arrangements.
