Charla K. Maxfield, 79, of Carmi passed away on Wednesday, February 18, 2026. She was born in Ross, California on September 23, 1946 the daughter of Charles Kenneth and Laura Elizabeth (Helmantoler) Maxfield. Charla had worked as a teacher and for 20 years, was a utility rep. for Pacific Gas and Electric.
Upon returning to Carmi, Charla became involved in several groups and organizations. She was a member of First United Methodist Church in Carmi where she served on several committees. She served on the board of Evergreen Acres and White County Memorial Garden and was a member of the White County Historical Society.
Charla is survived by several cousins including Debra (Richard) Wilson, Sheilah (Dennis) Neal and Jodi Babic. She was preceded in death by her parents.
Graveside funeral services and burial for Charla K. Maxfield, 79, of Carmi will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Sunday, February 22, 2026 in White County Memorial Garden in Carmi. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to White Co. Memorial Garden or First United Methodist Church and will be accepted at Campbell Funeral Home, 609 W. Main St., Carmi, IL 62821 who is assisting the family with arrangements.
