Ronald A. "Ron" Schultz, age 87, of Trenton, was reunited with his one true love, Phyllis, on Monday, October 20, 2025, surrounded by his loving daughters. He was born November 5, 1937, in Highland, a son of the late Clarence A. and Lucilda (nee Bellm) Schultz.

In addition to his parents, Ron was preceded in death by his loving wife, Phyllis (nee Ruth) Schultz, whom he married November 14, 1964, at St. Paul Catholic Church in Highland and who died August 2, 2003; siblings, Geraldine "Gerry" (Eugene "Butch") Buehne and Karen (Verlin) Meskil; father-in-law and mother-in-law, Melvin and Kathyrn (nee Grolle) Ruth; step-father-in-law, Harold Peters; and brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, Richard Allen Ruth, Timothy Peters, Jim Ruth, Bob (Judy) Ruth, and Betty (Richard) Erwin.

Ron is survived by his children, April (Brian) Smith of Columbia, Ruth (Bob) Rieger of Highland, Dori (JR) Mason of Damiansville, and Lori (Derek) Brandmeyer of Trenton; grandchildren, Holly (special friend, Blake) Shrum, Julie (Jacob) Flowers, Natalie (Nathan) Dillon, Samantha (special friend, Eric) Smith, William (Maggie) Rieger, Wade (Francesca) Rieger, Nadine (Riley) Rickhoff, Spencer, Shelby (Hunter) Schulte, Emma (fiancé, Caidin) Brandmeyer, and Clare Brandmeyer; great-grandchildren, Adilyn, Gwendolyn, Eli, Jaylee, Jace, Levi, Ashton, Trey, and Harlow; sister, Marilyn (Harold) Meskil of Pierron; and sisters-in-law and brother-in-law, Ann Marie (Herb) Schmitt of Trenton and Betty Ruth of Breese; and nieces and nephews.

A proud veteran of the United States Army, Ron exemplified dedication, integrity, and hard work throughout his life. He was an electrician by trade, working for many years at Ralston Purina, and a proud member of IBEW Local 309 in Collinsville. Ron was also a devoted member of St. Mary Catholic Church in Trenton and the Trenton Knights of Columbus Council 2932.

Outside of work and service, Ron found joy in life's simple pleasures: farming, gardening, attending the Illinois State Fair in Springfield, playing cards, and especially dancing the polka with his beloved wife, Phyllis. A lifelong St. Louis Cardinals fan, Ron always cheered with passion. Above all, he loved his family deeply and cherished every moment spent together.

Funeral Mass of Christian Burial will be Thursday, October 23, 2025, at 11:00 a.m. at St. Mary Catholic Church in Trenton with Fr. George Zieba presiding and Deacon Tom Ritzheimer assisting. Interment will follow at St. Mary Cemetery in Trenton.

Visitation will be Thursday, October 23, 2025, from 9:00 – 10:30 a.m. at Moss Funeral Home in Trenton.

In lieu of flowers, plants, and other gifts, memorials may be made to Hospice of Southern Illinois or St. Paul School and will be received at the visitation or by mail at Moss Funeral Home, 105 S. Main St. Trenton, IL 62293, who is serving the family.
