Henrietta: It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of Ronald Schutt, a devoted father, loving husband, and passionate golfer, who passed away on April 16th at the age of 90. He was the cherished father of eight children, a pillar of strength, encouragement and a never ending source of sports facts in his family.
Ron grew up in Rochester and graduated from West High. After high school he became the proud attendee of The University of Alabama where he became a lifelong fan of The Alabama Crimson Tide. Following his time in Alabama, he enlisted in the Army where he was stationed for a period of time in Presque Isle, Maine.
Ron found immense joy and fulfillment in all things sports, golf and hockey in particular. Attending Amerks games and being on the golf course with family and friends were the highlights of his later years. When not at a game or on a golf course, Ron would be setting up Euchre Tournaments, grilling up some well done hot dogs, mowing his lawn or making an occasional trip down to the family cottage on Seneca Lake.
Ron (aka Buzz) leaves behind a legacy of love, laughter, and cherished memories. He will be deeply missed by his children, Terry (Mary Jo) Schutt, Laurie (Paul) Reilly, John (Kathye) Schutt, Paul (Tracy) Schutt, Ronald Schutt (Jenn Zimmer), David (Tammy) Schutt, Karen Schutt and Steven (Holly) Schutt and his 12 Grandchildren and 1 Great Grandchild.
After a long and fulfilling life, Ron enters eternal life, joining his parents Paul and Corrine, his sister Sandra and his beloved wife Shirley Belanger. We take comfort knowing he is now at peace and surrounded by loved ones.
Family and friends are invited to call on Monday April 21st from 4-7 PM at Miller Funeral and Cremation Services, Inc., 3325 Winton Road South.
