Ronald Shaffer Obituary

Ronald P. Shaffer

July 28, 1952 - June 20, 2025

Kansas City, Missouri - Ronald P. Shaffer, 72, passed away peacefully at University Health Truman Medical Center on Friday, June 20, 2025. Ron was born on July 28, 1952, to loving parents, Thomas and Gennie Lee Shaffer in Independence, Missouri. He graduated from St. Mary's Grade School, Rockhurst High School and Rockhurst University, always proud of his Rockhurst personalized license plate. Upon graduating, he joined his brother, Dan, at Seiden's Furs, where he was the Vice President and Co-owner. After 30 happy years of working with his family, Ron retired and enjoyed traveling. He and his father, and later with his brother, had many enjoyable trips to Las Vegas. He was an avid Kansas City Chiefs fan. Ron was a member of the Honorary Board of Directors of Rockhurst University. He was a life long Catholic. He made many forever friends from the Catholic Masses at St. Luke's Hospital Chapel. Ron is survived by his brother, Dan, his uncle Kenneth Schowengerdt, as well as numerous cousins and friends who have been a great support to him. Special thanks to dear friends who were constantly available to support him and make him laugh, Dr. Maiko Ebersole and Lorenzo Johnson. Visitation will be Saturday, June 28 at 9:00 a.m., followed by the Mass of Resurrection at 10:00 a.m. at Our Lady of Sorrows, 2552 Gilham Road, K.C. MO 64108, interment in the family plot at Mt. Olivet Cemetery. The family suggest contributions to the Sisters Servants of Mary, 800 N. 18th Street, Kansas City, KS 66102.

Dear Dan,
I am so grateful for the many memories I have of Ron. You, Ron and your Mom and Dad were amongst the first people I met when I moved to Kansas City 27 years ago. From Easter brunches at the Muehlebach in the "early days" to brunches at Union Station, dinners at Benton's finished with a Baked Alaska, donuts at Seiden's and Memorial Day celebrations at Santa Fe Towers, the list goes on and on. You all are my Kansas City Family.
Much Love,
Mark
