Rev. Dr. Ronald E. Shellhamer, 72, of Williamsport, passed at home on Dec. 17, 2025.

He was born in New Brunswick, NJ on November 25, 1953, a son to the late Louis and Evelyn (Shafer) Shellhamer, and grew up in Piscataway, NJ.

Rev. Dr. Shellhamer was a volunteer for special needs students in the Montgomery Area School District. He also volunteered teaching special needs students through cyber-school.

A highly educated man, Rev. Dr. Shellhamer received a Masters of Divinity and a Doctorate of Ministry from The Lutheran Theological Seminary at Philadelphia.

Throughout his professional career, Rev. Dr. Shellhamer was a pastor at Christ Lutheran Church in Montgomery; the Grace Lutheran Church and St. Paul Lutheran Church in Shamokin; The Church of the Savior-Lutheran and St. Matthew Lutheran Church in Williamsport; the Luzerne County Community College in Shamokin, as well as an interim pastor at the Lutheran Church of the Redeemer in Williamsport; Rev. Shellhamer spent several years in missionary service in Africa with the Lutheran Church in Liberia. He was most recently a proud member of St. Luke's Lutheran Church in Williamsport.

He is survived by his daughter Jennifer Bower; brother Raymond (Barbara) Shellhamer; six grandchildren; nieces Mara (John) Salinas, Margaret (Joe) Badalpour; nephews Ronald (Rebecca) Shellhamer, Christopher (Kathy) Shellhamer, and Benjamin (Megan) Joseph; as well as his fiancé Mickey Mapstone.

In addition to his parents Louis and Evelyn Shellhamer, Ron was preceded in death by his son, Christopher B. Shellhamer; and sister Elaine M. Joseph.

A Memorial Service will be held at 10:00 am at St. Luke Lutheran Church, 1400 Market St., Williamsport, on January 6th, 2026, with Pastor Lacrone and Bishop Miller concelebrating.

In lieu of flowers, the family respectfully suggests memorial contributions be made to the American Diabetes Association, P.O. Box 7023, Merrifield, VA 22116 in Ron's name.
