SWADLING, Ronald L. "Ronnie" – of Davison, MI, age 66, passed away on Tuesday, February 4, 2025. Cremation has taken place. A Memorial Service will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Special Olympics, in Ronnie's memory.
Ronnie was born in Flint, MI on August 8, 1958, son of the late Stanley and Susanne (Irwin) Swadling. He loved to make people laugh and was known to give those he loved most nicknames. Ron will forever be remembered for fighting his life battles as a true Swadling warrior. Having someone like Ronnie in your life is something that cannot be explained, except to say it is a true blessing. He exhibited a special love that you can only relate to if you were lucky enough to have known him. Ron taught his family how to have compassion for others and a daily attitude to always treat everyone equally, seeing past disabilities and for everything they are inside. Ronnie was an active participate in The Special Olympics and often walked in the Crim. He looked forward to weekends at the cabin where his favorite thing to do was fish in the pouring rain. Every year, you could always count on Ron having the biggest birthday celebrations because that was his most favorite day. The family takes comfort in knowing that there is another giant celebration taking place in Ronnie's honor as he rejoined loved ones who went home before him. Ronnie, you will be deeply missed and you are still very much loved. Thank you for teaching us real love and compassion. May your eternal home have simple joys such as watching endless episodes of Fonzie or Dukes of Hazzard, drinking all the orange pop you can, and enjoying cheesecake to your heart's delight.
Ron is survived by his sisters, Cheryl (Jim) Keller, Judy (John) Cross, and Sue Curtis; sister-in-law, Corrine Swadling many nieces and nephews; and many other loving family members and friends. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by brothers, Gary (Cookie) and Larry Swadling; sister, Peggy Artress; and brother-in-law, Phillip Curtis.
