Ronald Lloyd Trapp, 71 of Forest, VA passed away unexpectedly on March 5, 2026 surrounded by his family.

He was born to Harold J. and LaVonne R. (Lloyd) Trapp in Freeport, IL on November 20, 1954. He was a 1972 graduate of Aquin Central Catholic High School. He went on to earn his college degree from Southern Illinois University of Carbondale. After graduation he began his career in Production Control at Sunstrand in Rockford, IL and continued in that role until retirement from Northrop Grumman in MD.

Ron enjoyed his family, traveling and he loved being his own handyman. He also loved sports and was a lifelong Chicago Cubs, Bears, Bulls and Blackhawks fan!

In his 50's he found love and married Jennifer Simangca on March 01, 2004 in Upper Marlboro MD. He loved his life as a family man and becoming a father. They enjoyed traveling together visiting many destinations on family vacations.

Now there are his wife Jennifer and daughter Malinda Trapp.

Siblings: Mary Jo (Tim) Mellentine, Susan (Jim) Brannick of Freeport, IL, John Trapp of Henrico, VA, Mike(Cyndi) Trapp of Arcola, MO.

Aunt: Marian Trapp Kronberg of Freeport, IL, many nieces, nephews, and cousins.

He was preceded in death by his parents Harold and LaVonne Trapp. Grandparents: Merle and Harvey Lloyd and Malinda and Joseph Trapp. Many Aunts, Uncles and a cousin.

Tharp Funeral Home & Crematory, Lynchburg, is assisting the family.
