Ronald Tunget Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Owen Funeral Home - Dixie Highway on Jan. 12, 2026.
Ronald Lee Tunget, 85, passed away on January 11, 2026. He was born in Louisville, Kentucky, on October 8, 1940, to his late parents, Bessie and Russell Tunget.

Ronald was a proud and dedicated business owner who built and ran his own trucking company, a reflection of his strong work ethic and independent spirit. Outside of work, he found joy in the simple pleasures of life-fishing, playing cards, and tending to his garden, where his tomatoes were a particular point of pride. He would playfully tease his grandchildren, spinning tall tales that showcased his quick wit and joyful nature. Ronald was a soft-hearted, selfless soul with a ready answer for everything and a smile that made others feel at ease. Above all, he carried an immense and unwavering love for his family, whom he adored deeply, a bond that spoke volumes about the kindness and love that defined his life.

He is preceded in death by his parents; daughter, Margaret Bensing; and brothers, Russell, Carl, and Billy Tungett.

Ronald is lovingly remembered by his wife of 30 years, Sylvia Tunget; children, Robert Tunget, Karen Rice (Rob), Robin Howard, and Jennifer Windhorst; grandchildren, Joshua and Katelyn Rice, Autumn Shirley, Emily Youngblood, Dakota, Jake, Dan, and Cherry Davis, Myranda and Alex Windhorst; great grandchildren, Summer Shirley, Shawn, and Nova Massey; great-great granddaughter, Rilynn Lee; brother, Curtis Tunget; sisters, Patricia Eden and Beverly Johnson; and a host of nieces and nephews.

His funeral services will be held at Owen Funeral Home, 5317 Dixie Hwy. The visitation will be on Wednesday, January 14, 2026, from 2:00-8:00 PM. The funeral will be the next day starting at 11:00 AM. Burial will take place at Louisville Memorial Gardens West, following the service.
