Ronald Walkup, 72, of Warr Acres, went home to be with the Lord on Tuesday, December 6, 2022. He was born to Roy J. and Helene W. Walkup (Lieman) on August 31, 1950 in Markt Schwaben, Germany. At a young age, his family migrated to the United States where they lived in various states due to his father's service in the Air Force. When Ron was 15, they moved to a farm in Olney, OK, where he helped his father raise cattle. After graduating from Olney High School, he enlisted in the United States Air Force on August 22, 1968, where he served as a jet engine mechanic and a sergeant until he was honorably discharged on October 9, 1971. After his service, he held different occupations before finding his favorite career as a delivery truck driver. In 1989 Ron met the love of his life, Vonda, and they were married the same year. In 2011, he began his work for the State of Oklahoma as an Interagency Mailman for the Office of Management and Enterprise Services; he enjoyed this position for 9 years, retiring in 2020. He enjoyed reading, fishing, traveling, and watching baseball as well as his favorite team, OSU football. Ron is preceded in death by his parents, 2 siblings, Peter Ruder and Hannah Thisse, and many other family members. He is survived by his wife of 33 years, Vonda Walkup (Penner) of Warr Acres, OK; their three daughters, Katie Lynn and husband Brian Lee Boutwell of Bethany, OK, Michele Ann Walker of Oklahoma City, OK, and Mary Helene Walkup of Warr Acres, OK, and one son, Jacob Roy Walkup and wife Danni Angel; two grandsons, Matthew Logan Boutwell and Isaac Lee Boutwell; and many other extended family and friends. Ron was a dedicated and beloved husband, father, grandfather, and friend; he was loved and will be missed dearly. A service to remember Ron will be held at: 2:00 pm Monday, December 12, 2022 at Absolute Economical Funeral Home Chapel 7721 NW 10th Street Suite B Oklahoma City, Oklahoma 73127, with burial to follow at Bethany Cemetery, Bethany, OK.
