Ronald "Ron" Wielgosz, 74, of the Hudson section of Plains Twp., passed away Feb. 15, 2026, in Geisinger Wyoming Valley.
Born, raised, and educated in Plains Township, Ronald was the son of the late Joseph Wielgosz and Anne (Wilde) Wielgosz.
A mechanic and auto body specialist, Ron worked at several local businesses, including Klein Auto Parts, D&D Motors/Delbaso, as well as other garages throughout Wyoming Valley. He was trained as a PPG paint specialist, which led him to his own business, Ron's Body Shop, where his skill, honesty, and easygoing nature earned him the trust of countless customers that turned into friends.
Ron built his life around family, friends, hard work, and helping his neighbors. He found joy in life's simple moments like grabbing coffee with a friend, taking a leisurely drive, or standing under the Friday Night Lights, cheering on the Wilkes-Barre Wolfpack team with his friends and grandson. He treasured his family, especially his grandchildren.
A devoted Buffalo Bills fan, Ron cherished attending a game this past September with his grandson, Ryan. Though he never got to see the Bills win a Super Bowl, his family is certain he'll continue rooting for them from above.
Ron is survived by his devoted wife of 52 years, Lucy; his sons, Ron Jr., of Plains Township, and Brian Wielgosz and wife, Georgette, of Dallas; his daughter, Lisa Wielgosz and fiancé, Chris Muroski, of West Pittston; and his beloved grandchildren, Ryan, Owen, Ethan, and Oaklyn. He is also survived by bonus grandchildren, Christian and Chloe, as well as several cousins, nieces, and a nephew.
A visitation will be held from 6 to 7:30 p.m. Friday at Yanaitis Funeral Home Inc., 55 Stark St., Plains Township. The funeral will begin at 7:30 p.m. and will be officiated by Deacon Donald Crane.
In honor of Ron, the family requests you wear the Buffalo Bills' colors to his memorial services.
