On April 5, Ronney Dean Burns, age 74, had his faith made complete when he passed from this world to the presence of his Lord. Ronney was preceded in death by his parents Oyd Burns and Lucille Cantrell Burns. He was born and grew up in Seneca, SC. After high school, he was proud to serve in the US Air Force. While serving his country, he married the love of his life Carolyn Holland. They were married for 54 years last week. They raised their family in Walhalla. Their daughter Shandra Burns Lee is married to Mark Lee, and they live in Walhalla. They have two children, Tyler and Olivia. Their son Chris Burns is married to Jenny Burns, and they reside in Gainesville, GA. They have two children, Andrew and Sydney.
He spent his 32-year career working for Duke Energy. Ronney treasured spending time with his family. He enjoyed everything from beach trips to dog trials to eating out on Saturday evenings. The only thing exceeding his love for family was his love for God. He accepted Christ as his Savior at the age of 10. He served his church and Lord for many years by teaching Sunday School. He also served as deacon, Sunday School Superintendent, and numerous other positions. Ronney also had a love for spending time on the farm. He was a member of the Blue Ridge Masonic Lodge and Ebenezer Community Club. Although he did not care for many earthly possessions, he took a lot of pride in his 1940 Ford and 1966 Ford Fairlane.
The family will be receiving friends and family at Davenport Funeral in West Union on Friday the 8th from 6-8pm. The service will be on Saturday at Davenport Funeral Home at noon with the interment at Ebenezer Baptist in West Union. Flowers will be accepted and memorials may be made to the charity of your choice. The family is at home.
