Tharp Funeral Home & Crematory - LynchburgRonnie (Ron) Duayne Davis went home to be with the Lord on Sept 28, 2025. Despite the difficult battles Ronnie faced, he ultimately achieved victory by finding eternal peace in the loving embrace of our Lord.
Beloved husband of 46 years, Ronnie leaves behind his devoted wife, Debbie McCraw Davis. He is also survived by his cherished daughter Brittany Treat and her husband Cory of Vinton; sisters Kim Welch and her husband Eugene of Monroe, and Laurie Chiodo and her husband Craig of Lynchburg; and his brother-in-law, Mike McCraw.
Born in Lynchburg, VA, on June 10, 1957, Ronnie was the son of the late Anthony Everette Davis, Jr., and Dottie Farley Davis of Monroe, VA.
Ronnie is also survived by nephews Brandon Welch and Justin Chiodo, and his nieces Tiffany Welch (Ian), Megan Tait (Alex), Monica Chiodo, and Addison Chiodo, great nephew Hunter Welch and great niece Emily Welch. He is survived by two special aunts, Joyce Elliott and her husband Steve of West Virginia, and Rachel McCraw of Florida. Ronnie is survived by many cousins.
In 1975, after graduating from Amherst County High School, Ronnie answered the call to serve his country by enlisting in the Army. He was stationed at Ft Leonard Wood MO, and then, Ft Belvoir VA.
Following his honorable discharge from active duty in 1981, Ronnie furthered his education and graduated with honors from Central Virginia Community College with an associate degree in Machine Operations Technology. He began his career at Lynchburg Foundry, and at Griffin Pipe in Lynchburg, VA, where he worked for several years.
As his health began to decline, Ronnie faced each day with grit and determination. Ronnie had a very strong will. Although he was no longer able to work, he used this time to enjoy his passions. An avid fisherman, Ronnie was a Master Angler and earned numerous awards. He was well regarded in the fishing community.
Ronnie’s mind was always buzzing with creativity, leading him to design, invent and patent a fish stringer.
Music was another of Ronnie’s great loves. He accumulated an impressive collection of albums, CD’s, and stereo equipment, spending many hours immersed in his music.
A funeral service in Ronnie’s honor will be held at Tharp Funeral Home & Crematory on Thursday, October 2, 2025, at 11 AM, officiated by Reverend Steve Tyree of Lynchburg VA, with Pastor Cody Bingham of Elon Baptist Church, Chaplain Susan Allen, and Hospice Chaplain Mel Balista.
The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service, followed by interment at Fort Hill Memorial Park.
