Ronnie Goode Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Hilliard Funeral Home, Fairway Crematory & Memorial Gardens - Van on Jun. 12, 2023.
Services for Ronnie Goode will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, June 15, 2023 at Hilliard Funeral Home with Pastor Mike Calhoun. Visitation will be held from 6:00 p.m. – 8:00 p.m. on Wednesday evening at the funeral home. No graveside services will be held.
Ronnie Boyett Goode was born November 6, 1945 in Van, Texas to the late Earl & Oline Boyett Goode. He had been a resident of Van all of his life. Ronnie learned all about the paint and body business from Leo Smith in the early 60's and then opened his own shop, Goode's Body Shop from 1965-1975 and then Western Auto from 1976-1985. He served on the Van Volunteer Fire Department for 30 years, where he was chief and head of EMS for a lot of those years. He was later the director of East Texas EMS and then spent around thirteen years with Wheeled Coach as one of their top ambulance salesman. In the last 25 years, he spent most of his time farming. If there was a Dinner Bell Club, he would be the president; he enjoyed his time at the café and ate there twice a day and three times on Friday.
Ronnie passed away at the age of 77 on June 10, 2023. He was preceded in death by his parents; son, Ricky Goode; brothers and sister-in-law, Cleovis & Bertha Goode and Charles Goode; sisters and brother-in-law, Earline Clinton and Murdell & JT Jones; nieces, Joy and Sheila; and nephew, Devearl.
Survivors include his wife of 32 years, Darlene Goode of Van; son and daughter-in-law, Randy & Robyn Goode of Sherman; brother-in-law, Finis Clinton; grandchildren, Aaron & Samantha Goode, Ashley & Keith Harness, Trevor & Lindsay Goode, Jake Goode, Baleigh & Hunter Nick, Caitlann Peden, James Stricken and Grace Stricken; great-grandchildren, Callan Jo, Callum, Linden, Owen, Kohen, and one on the way; numerous nieces and "favorite" nephew, Terry Jones; his best friend who was like a son, Sam Nipp; and his best friend, Carrie "Sissy" Blackmon.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to The Hospice of East Texas, Pruitt Baptist Church, or to the Alzheimer's Association.
