Ronnie McMillan was born on October 25, 1950 to Annie Lou and John Henry McMillan. He died on November 16, 2022 around 9 am at home in Crystal Springs, Mississippi, in his daughter's arms surrounded by his wife and grandson KK (Kenny). He fought a good fight after being diagnosed with brain cancer last December. He was the best father, pawpaw and husband. He will be dearly missed by the Fox hunting community. He did a lot for that sport. Ronnie was a legend in his own time.
He was born and raised in the small town of Harrisville, Ms. located in Simpson County. At the peak of his career, Ronnie owned and operated a successful construction company in the Jackson area.
Not only has Ronnie been a successful business man, he has also been very successful in the Fox Hound and Field Trial world. Ronnie McMillan is the only person to have ever won all four Categories in the same year of The LeaderBoard's Kennel of the Year, Hound of the Year, Sire of the Year and Dam of the Year. Ronnie has had the privilege of owning and breeding numerous competitive hounds and carrying three of them to the level of Count of Field Sires, Ch. McMillan's Hank, Ch. McMillan's Diamond and Ch. McMillan's Little D.
Ronnie and his wife Bonnie took great pride in Fox Hunting and Field Trialing. On any given day, you could find these two individuals at the kennels early in the morning, or late in the day, making sure that the hounds are in top shape and ready for the next outing. As the results of the three day event were called out, their work of their labor was usually revealed when their name was called in the TOP 10.
The long record of accomplishments speaks for themselves as to the dedication that Ronnie has put into this great sport that we all love. He will be missed by so many people who loved him!
