Ronald (Ronnie) David Ortiz, 59, was born on July 31, 1965 in Los Angeles, California to Johnny and Olga Ortiz. He entered into eternal rest on June 13, 2025, in Whittier, California.
Ronnie is survived by his loving wife, Alma; His three children: Brittany Martinez (Bryan), Brandy Ortiz (Christopher), Brandon Ortiz (Lori); And his three step-children: Andrew Orozco, Staci Orozco, and Brian Orozco.
He was the proud grandfather of six grandchildren: Elizabeth Perez, Ajani Martinez, Xander Martinez, Chelsea Ortiz, Riley Orozco, and Skylar Ortiz. Ronnie is also survived by his sister, Monique Ortiz; his brother, Eric Ortiz; and his niece, Erika Ortiz.
Ronnie passed away surrounded by his loving wife, family, and friends in Whittier.
Ronnie enriched our lives with his passion for playing the guitar, which began during his teenage years. This passion led him to perform in rock bands all over Southern California well into his adult years. His musical legacy will live on through his children, all of whom are musically inclined.
He had many friends, some of whom he kept in contact with for over 40 years. He enjoyed hiking and golfing, and often referred to himself as the walking encyclopedia of Led Zeppelin. However, his absolute favorite activity was reading the Word of God from cover to cover.
Ronnie was a God-fearing man. He gave his heart to Jesus Christ at the age of 33. He loved his church family and had a servant's heart, serving in many capacities throughout the years. He blessed many with his spiritual gifts of administration, leadership, and worship within his church communities.
His service included being a greeter at Abundant Living Family Church, founding a ministry for single dads, and serving at Light and Life Christian School in accounting, payroll, bookkeeping, and as their Chaplain. Ronnie also led the worship team at his church and served on the board of My Father's House Church, where he helped write the bylaws and organized summer concerts and events.
His most recent employment was with White Dove Release, where he handled the release of doves for families and managed the bookkeeping. He found great comfort in the doves he released for families and valued the friendships he built with mortuary directors and administrative staff he worked with over 14 years.
Ronald David Ortiz will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him. His legacy of compassion, honesty, and generosity will live on in the hearts of his family and friends. May he rest in eternal peace.
