Obituary published on Legacy.com by Asheville Area Alternative Funeral & Cremation Services - Asheville on Dec. 17, 2025.
Ronnie Gene Wilson, age 81, died Monday, December 15, 2025, surrounded by his loving family. Ronnie was born on January 11, 1944 in Buncombe County. He has been a lifelong resident of Weaverville, NC. He was the son of the late Woodrow and Vernon Wilson.

Surviving are his wife, Myrna Taylor Wilson; sons Scott Wilson (Marsha) and Stacy Wilson (Allison); daughter Kristy Wilson Jones (Nicholas); his 7 grandchildren whom he dearly loved (Amanda Wilson, Ben and Hannah Wilson, Max and Ethan Jones, and Chad and Chase Coates) all of Weaverville. Also surviving are his sister, Iva Harron (Jack) of Brevard, NC; brother, John Wilson of Weaverville, NC; and many nieces and nephews.

Ronnie served in the Army during the Vietnam War where he was stationed in South Korea. He retired as a Conductor from Norfolk Southern Railroad. He enjoyed reading, especially Westerns, and listening to Gospel Music. His greatest joy was spending time with his family and friends. Ronnie was always the life of the party! He always knew how to make people laugh with some kind of story or joke.

A Celebration of Life service will be held at Salem United Methodist Church in Weaverville, NC on Saturday, December 27, 2025 at 2:00pm. At other times, the family will be at Ronnie and Myrna's home.

The family would like to give a special thanks to Dr. Carter Wood, Dr. Michael Bond, and the wonderful staff of nurses at the VA Medical Center of Asheville for taking such good care of Ronnie. They would also like to thank Dr. England and the staff of Davita in Weaverville for all the years of wonderful care they provided Ronnie.
