Mr. Roosevelt Menzies

Mr. Roosevelt Menzies was born December 26, 1940 in Dorena, Missouri the son of Lucean and Sibby Menzies. He passed away Wednesday, June 28, 2023 at the age of 82 years.
Roosevelt moved to Saginaw, Michigan from Missouri in 1969. He worked at General Motors Malleable Iron for 39 years before retiring in 2004, and also was a member of UAW. Roosevelt enjoyed studying the bible with the Jehovah Witness, studying history, geography, soul and blues music. He loved spending time with his family and friends especially playing cards and dominoes and whooping their tails and fussing over his grandchildren.
Mr. Roosevelt Menzies leaves to cherish his wife, Ruby Menzies of Saginaw, MI; two daughters Patricia Cotton and Kenya (Shonte) Peoples, both of Saginaw, MI; three sons, Tony (Kimberly) of Grand Rapids, MI, Teddy (Sherry) of McDonough, GA and Timothy Menzies Cotton of Saginaw, MI; grandchildren, Dennis, Jr., MyQueal, Teddy, Jr., GeorQuavis, Rajien, Kenterra, Taja, Zoveara, Shyliyah, Timothy, Jr., Nevaeh, Shonte, Jr., Paris and Shavar; great-grandchildren, MyQueal, Jr., MyQuez, Jakhi, JayCe, Ava, Zyra, Christian, Lauryn, Caleigha, Zniyah, Brian, Jr. and Brayden; sisters, Lizzie Carruth, Nadine Bonds, Flora Burnett and Queen Laster; sisters in-law, Elizabeth Caldwell, Ivy Menzies and Imogene Menzies; a host of nieces, nephews including special nephews who were like brothers, Robert and Odell Atchison, a host of cousins including special cousins, Tommy and Ann Tipler, other relatives and friends including special friends Sam Shaw and James "Tiger".
Mr. Menzies was preceded in death by his parents, Lucean and Sibby Menzies; son, Dennis Cotton; grandson, Kyro Garnett; brothers, Paul, Ernest, Herbert, Bobby Jo, L.C. and John Menzies; sisters, Maggie Mac, Geneva and Atta B Menzies; brothers-in-law, Robert Caldwell, Harry Carruth, Willie Baker and Ervin Laster; sisters-in-law, Ruthie and Lula Menzies.
The family would like to express special thanks to the Valley Hospice Care, Shelby Sharkey, Covenant HealthCare, Lille O'Neal, Compassionate Care, Donna, Meals on Wheels, Gloria, Commission on Aging and everyone who assisted with the care of Mr. Roosevelt Menzies during this time.
Funeral service will take place at 2:00 P.M. on Thursday, July 6, 2023 at Evans & Browne's Funeral Home, 441 N. Jefferson Ave., Saginaw, MI 48607. Interment in Forest Lawn Cemetery, 3210 S. Washington Ave., Saginaw, MI 48601. Friends may call at Evans & Browne's Funeral Home, 441 N. Jefferson Ave., Saginaw, MI 48607 on Wednesday, from 2:00 until 6:00 p.m.
