Tezak's Home to Celebrate Life - JolietRosalie Charletta (née Darmata) passed away in the peaceful environment provided by Lightways Hospice and Serious Illness Care in Joliet on September 28, 2025 while supported by her loving daughters. She was born in Joliet, IL to her father Luigi Darmata and her mother Anna Darmata (née Vivona).
Rosalie was a devoted wife and a loving and protective mother to her two girls. She was so proud to have been happily married to her beloved “Nicky” for sixty-two years before his passing in 2022. She was a lifelong Cubs fan who, along with so many other Chicagoans, relished the opportunity to finally celebrate a World Championship after so many years of “Wait until next year”s. She was a woman who enjoyed simple pleasures in life. She liked to listen to music, enjoyed picnics, and simply spending time with family and friends on a beautiful day.
She was preceded in death by her parents Luigi and Anna; her husband of sixty-two years Nicholas Charletta; her son-in-law John Bennett; her brothers Samuel (the late Joyce) and Joseph Darmata; her sister Mary (the late Eugene) Bandosz; and her brother-in-law James Blatti.
Rosalie is survived by her daughters Kimberly (the late John) Bennett and Kathy Nemec; and her sister Connie (the late James) Blatti. Numerous extended family members, friends, and loved ones, too numerous to name individually, also survive.
In lieu of flowers, the family would welcome any donations in Rosalie’s name be directed to Lightways Hospice and Serious Illness Care, 250 Water Stone Circle Joliet, IL 60431 at https://lightways.org/make-a-donation/.
Per Rosalie’s wishes, cremation rites were accorded, and her Earthly remains will be inurned alongside her beloved Nicky’s in a double inurnment ceremony with Military Honors to be performed at Abraham Lincoln National Cemetery, 20953 W Hoff Rd. Elwood, IL 60421 on Wednesday October 8, 2025 at 12:00 pm. All guests intending to attend services at the cemetery should plan to arrive no later than 11:45 am for a prompt 12:00 start of services.
