Rosaura Vargas Obituary

Published by Legacy on Feb. 12, 2025.
It is with profound sorrow that we announce the passing of Rosaura Vargas, who left us suddenly on February 8, 2025, at the age of 72. She was born on April 7, 1952 in Leon, Mexico to Manuel and Dolores Gonzalez.
Rosaura was a loving daughter, sister, wife, mother, and grandmother. She cherished the time she spent with family, friends, her grand huskies, and especially her beloved grandson.
Rosaura had a deep love for the arts, music, travel, gardening, and dancing. She was a devoted supporter of her children's pursuits as both musical and visual artists. She was not only a spectator but also an active participant, attending their events and helping out in any way she could. Her love for her sons' music even took her to Europe, where she proudly witnessed them perform and saw firsthand their involvement in the global techno community. Her daughter's collage art brought her immense pride and joy, always supporting and never missing a show.
Rosaura is survived by her husband, Alfredo; her children, Vangelis, Vidal, Vanessa; her grandson, Gavin; her brother, Victor; and her cherished grand huskies. She was preceded in death by her father, Manuel, and her mother, Dolores, who passed away in October of last year.
Rosaura will be remembered for all that she did for her family and friends. She will be dearly missed by all who knew her and will forever remain in our hearts.

My heartfelt condolences to the family during this difficult time. I fondly remember the moments spent at 810 Flower St, where she helped us find our business attire. With her guidance, we always felt like the sharpest-dressed ladies at The Gas Company. She will be deeply missed. Beryl Bryant

Rosaura was a wonderful friend and colleague. We would have long conversations over a cup of tea at the office. She was witty, intelligent, and such a caring soul. I was so thrilled for her when she retired because she wanted to spend more time with her family. I´m heartbroken she´s no longer with us. May she rest in peace. My deepest condolences to her family.

My Chica, sharing some photos of our time together. Rosaura was a special friend so sweet so giving i am so shaken by your sudden passing. We were texting and you told me you had a cold or bad flu then it was lingering covid and you felt weak and everything you ate tasted like s@!t I was in awe of all the great care you gave to your mother Dolores. Never ever did you complain! In retirement you spent time with your grandson Gavin, Vidal´s son whom we all got to visit Disneyland together. For your 72nd Bday we went back to the happiest place on earth and you brought Mary Lou & Anna....it was a blast! Alfred is truly a lucky man to have married you. I don´t want to believe you´ve left us...life is not the same you were a TRUE FRIEND. Our last text you were letting me know about folks affected by the fires, again, caring about others. My sincere condolences to Alfred, Vangelis, Vidal, Vanessa, Victor & Wife and Gavin. I was blessed to have her as my friend.

I submitted dear Rosaura's name to be read at all the masses this weekend (Feb. 21-23) at St. Monica's Catholic Church in Santa Monica where she was good enough to attend my wife's funeral service there on Oct. 5. Bless her; she had a heart of gold.

My heart is broken. Rosaura and I have been friends almost 50 years. We carpooled to work together, enjoyed having regular lunch and dinner outings where we caught up on everything going on with our families. She loved her family dearly. She was a loving person with a great smile, a kind heart and a feisty personality. I will miss her dearly and will never forget her. My niece had a baby girl in the day Rosaura passed away. They say when a new angel arrives here on earth God takes one home. Rosaura you got your wings.

Rosaura was passionate about everything she did. She loved her family fiercely and a great friend to many people. She was interesting and fun to be around, she was also there giving comfort, support, and advice during challenging times. We were truly lucky to be her friends for decades. We treasured her friendship, she will always be in our hearts and memories.

I think the tributes expressed here speak volumes about who Rosaura was and what she meant to so many people. I was one lucky enough to be touched by her grace and friendship -- at the GasCo. and in life. I am shaken by her passing.

I was saddened to learn of the death of our Socalgas friend Rosaura. She was one of the first people I met when I started at the ERC in 1996 and her dedication to SoCalGas was always present. She was willing to lend a helping hand wherever she was needed and her guidance kept us all on track. I fondly remember her bringing in stunning clothes and matching accessories to share from the LA fashion district.. she was a true fashionista . I was fortunate enough to accompany her a few times. Most of all I will cherish her compassionate heart and selfless willingness to always be there for others. Sending strength and courage to her husband children family and friends. Her legacy will live on through us. This photo is from a SocalGas gathering in December of 2023 at my home in Huntington Beach.

Rosaura and I were work colleagues. She could always be counted on to tell me truth, no matter how difficult it might be, even when it involved me!!! I really appreciated that about her. We had many long talks about work, of course, but we also shared many stories about our families. She was very proud of her family. It was during one of those conversations that we discovered that our sons both shared a love of music composition. I will miss you my friend. Rest in Peace Rosaura.

I remember fondly presenting introductions of the team I supervised at the time, using a animated montage and a backdrop of the song 'Fantastic Voyage', with Rosaura representing the speedy little spaceship flying back and forth across the galaxy to get things done. So cute! Lots of fun. Under the circumstance, I deeply sorrowed to hear this news. My condolences to the family. RD

When I first met her at socalgas in the 80´s, she was the clothes lady. She would come around with bags of nice clothes to sell to ladies at socalgas. She always had a smile. My heartfelt condolences to the family. She will be missed. May she rest in heavenly peace.

I don´t have the words to express how much of an impact Rosaura had on my professional life. She was the first person I met when I started working at SoCalGas back in June of 1983. And we remained friends throughout the years. My deepest condolences to Alfred and her family. You meant the world to her. I will miss her dearly. This photo was taken back in 2019 at her retirement party. She knew how to party. May you rest in peace my dear dear friend - you will always have a special place in my heart always, Debbie

Oh dear friend. Loved our lunch times. I admired your tenacity to do well. Your beauty beyond a Spanish dancer look. The love for Alfred and your children. God have you in his kingdom with my momma, your momma and all of friends and families who have gone before us. Pray for us
