It is with great respect and heartfelt remembrance that we announce the passing of Roscoe Brown, a devoted husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, and a man of exemplary character, who departed this life on November 2, 2025, at Tuskawilla Rehab & Medical Center in Winter Springs, FL. Born on October 21, 1943, in Jacksonville, FL, Roscoe lived a life marked by dedication and love for his family.
Roscoe’s professional journey spanned over 30 years as a civilian in the Department of Defense, where he made significant contributions to his field. His educational accomplishments were a source of pride for him; he graduated from Douglas Anderson High School, later earning his Bachelor’s degree from Bridgeport Engineering College, followed by a Master's Degree from UConn. His commitment to education and work underscored his intelligence and work ethic, traits he instilled in his family.
Beyond his impressive career, Roscoe was remembered for his gentle spirit and kind heart, which often contrasted with his stern exterior. Known as a "gentle giant," he had a good sense of humor that brought joy to those around him. His family will forever cherish the patience he taught them, as well as his remarkable ability to fix things and put them back together—both literally and metaphorically.
A man of profound faith, Roscoe held the churches he attended in high regard, further reflecting the values he embraced throughout his life. He was a hardworking individual who provided tirelessly for his loved ones until he could no longer do so.
Roscoe is survived by his beloved wife of 60 years, Lillian Brown, whom he married on March 28, 1965. He leaves behind a son, Anthony Brown, and his wife, Rommy; a daughter, Reshia Brown; three grandchildren, Melayka Vazquez, Malachi Vazquez, and Solomon Jerome Brown; and four great-grandchildren. He is also survived by his brothers, Alvin Brown, Edward Brown, and Leo Brown, as well as his sister, Joyce Lucas; and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Julius Clifton and Ceolia (Lee) Brown, and a son, Clifford Daniel Brown.
Family and friends are invited to pay their respects during visitation on November 8, 2025, from 3:00 pm to 5:00 pm, followed by a Funeral Ceremony at 5:00 pm at Newcomer Funeral Home - East Orlando Chapel, 895 S Goldenrod Rd, Orlando, FL.
Roscoe's legacy of love, humor, and hard work will live on in the hearts of those who knew him. His presence will be sorely missed but fondly remembered.
