Rose Balcom

1937 - 2026

Rose Marie Balcom, 88, of Lexington, passed away Thursday, January 22, 2026 at the St. Joseph Hosptital. Born April 18, 1937 in Walton, KY to the late George and Florence Blau Menke. She was a nurse for the University of Kentucky Hospital and a dancer extraordinaire. She is survived by her husband, Ronald Floyd Balcom of Lexington; two sons, Daniel L. Balcom (partner Mary). of Easton, PA and David L. (Anne) Balcom of Louisville, KY; one daughter, Linda (Michael) Bowling of Lexington, KY; one granddaughter, Emma Balcom of Cincinnati, OH; three grandsons, Wade Balcom of Louisville, KY, Mason Bowling of Lexington, KY, and Reece Bowling of Lexington, KY; numerous nieces and nephews. She is preceded in death by three sisters, Ann Purcell, Betty Kling, Rita Siemer and also two brothers, Charles Menke and George Menke. A mass will be held at 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, February 4, 2026 at the Mary Queen of the Holy Rosary. Visitation will be held from 5:00 – 8:00 p.m. Tuesday, February 3, 2026 at the Kerr Brothers-Harrodsburg Road. Burial will be in the Calvary Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Tim Franklin, Bill Allen, Ken Agent, James Johnson, James Mann and James Curliss.
