Rose Etta Brown, age 66, of Wheelersburg, Ohio, passed away Friday, October 10, 2025, at Southern Ohio Medical Center Hospice Care Center in Portsmouth, Ohio, surrounded by loved ones.
She was born August 29, 1959, in Morehead, Kentucky, a daughter of the late Willie and Lucy Barker Brown. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by three sisters, Kay Deweese, Patricia Whitt, and Vera "June Casteel; three infant brothers; and her companion of many years, Hillard Counts.
Rose is survived by one brother, Lee Barker of Fleming County, Kentucky; two sisters, Marilyn Nickell of Fleming County, Kentucky, and Connie Brown of Stout, Ohio; as well as numerous beloved nieces and nephews; other relatives; and friends.
Rose loved her family unconditionally. Her siblings were precious to her and although she had no children, she greatly enjoyed "mothering" her nieces and nephews. Visiting with family and friends with video calls was one of her favorite activities. Always creative, she thoroughly enjoyed making all types of windchimes, working word puzzles, and crafting all sorts of things. A positive person, she always thought of others first and will be remembered as loving, encouraging, and strong. She will be greatly missed and always remembered.
A funeral service will be held 3 p.m. Monday, October 13, 2025, at Northcutt & Son Home for Funerals Memorial Chapel with Pastor Rick Hackney officiating. Burial will follow in Forest Lawn Memorial Gardens.
Pallbearers will be Stephen Marx, David Marx, James Marx, Michael Nickell, John Pyatt, Tim Hamm, and J. D. Whitt
