Rose Marie Ray Covington was the sixth of thirteen born to the union of Joseph Caldwell Ray and Mary Catherine Hodgens Ray. She was born on February 28, 1941, in Springfield, Kentucky. At the age of one, she with her family, moved to Indianapolis, Indiana.

Rosie, as she was affectionately known to family, was blessed as an infant at Holy Rosary Catholic Church in Springfield, Kentucky. She was baptized in accordance with the Holy Rites of the Roman Catholic Church at St. Rita Catholic Church in Indianapolis.

Rosie received her primary and secondary education in the local Indianapolis parochial schools. She attended St. Rita for elementary and St. John Academy. She graduated from St. Agnes Academy.

On March 17, 1973, she was united in Holy Matrimony with Bradford Covington. Rose embarked upon a career at Eli Lilly & Company which spanned over thirty-five years. She retired in December of 1998.

Rosie was a cherished family member, an integral member of St. Rita Church, and a valued friend. Her hobbies included arts and crafts, and she was an avid reader. She was talented as a chef and baker, especially when it came to preparing her famous peach cobbler.

Rose Marie Ray Covington departed this earthly life March 10, 2025, at the age of eighty-four years and twelve days. In addition to her husband, other loved ones who preceded her in death include her parents, and siblings, William Ray, Gladys Ray, Joseph C. Ray, Jr., Annette Boyd, Linda Blunt, Sarah Louise Ray and Bennie Ray.

She leaves to cherish her memory her brothers, Charles T. (Donna) Ray, John "Marty" Ray, Frank Ray, and Peter (Brenda) Ray; sister, Mary Agnes Brown, three generations of nieces and nephews, other relatives, beloved St. Rita Church family, and friends.
