Rose Ann Cutrara

Rose Ann Cutrara, 98 years of age, passed away on October 3rd, 2025 at her family home in Durham. She was born March 15, 1927 in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania to the late Occaso and Cirilla Venanzio. Rose not only mastered the domestic arts under the tutelage of her mother, but also the ministry of healing prayer inspired by Kathryn Kuhlmann.
In 1950, Rose married August James Cutrara in St. Petersburg, Florida. She cherished her time as a wife and mother of three. Holiday celebrations shared with extended family were filled with laughter and love, and her exceptional lasagna and chicken cutlets.
For many years Rose was active in Women's Aglow, and served as president for her local chapter. She was a generous donor to Christian ministries, and was passionate about crafting praise banners for local churches and religious organizations. Her strong faith was a balm for many, and she became a beloved intercessor for family and friends throughout the U.S.
She is survived by her children James Cutrara, Providence (and Brian) Hartle, Daniel Cutrara (and Seline Szkupinski Quiroga); her grandchildren Jason (and Heidi) Hartle, Arielle (and Chris) Davis, Alicia Hartle, Kristianna Cutrara (and John) Daley, Stephen (and Carrie) Hartle, Daniel (and Patricia) Cutrara, Fr. Levi Hartle, Joanna Cutrara (and Matthan Churchill); and her sister Shirley Hartle. Rose is also survived by 25 great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her spouse August, and siblings Lena Palumbo, Joseph, Cy, Sam, Michael, Cosmo, Marie O'Hosky, Angelo and John.
She will be remembered at Grace Church, 200 Sage Rd, Chapel Hill, NC 27514 (919- 968-4120) on Saturday, October 18th; visitation is from 1pm to 1:45 pm and service is at 2 pm. Interment is at 4 pm at Markham Memorial Gardens, 4826 Trenton Rd, Chapel Hill, NC 27517.
