Rose Floro Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Hursen Funeral Home & Crematory - Hillside-Westchester on Feb. 24, 2025.
Rose Marie Floro (nee Santucci) 91, of Elgin, IL, died peacefully in her sleep on February 20, 2025; she is preceded in death by her husband Leonard, their children Luke, Lenny, and Mary Ann, and grandson Nicholas. She is survived by her children Phillip (Carol), Stephen (Kelly), and Jennifer (George Khalaf). Devoted aunt to Joseph Santucci (Marge), grandmother of 12, and great-grandmother of 10.
At the age of 16, Rose worked at Mother Cabrini Hospital in Chicago. After raising her six children she went back to work as a CNA at Villa Scalabrini Nursing Home in Northlake under the direction of Fr. Cozzi. It was there that she found her first passion of working in the geriatrics unit.
When she herself grew old, she spent much of her time making rosaries and bracelets for charity. She rediscovered her passion for singing and formed many glee clubs along the way, bringing cheer to those around her and encouraging participation to sing along. She adored the songs "Ave Maria" and "How Great Thou Art."
When Christ shall come, with shout of acclamation
And take me home, what joy shall fill my heart
Then I shall bow, in humble adoration
And then proclaim, my God, how great Thou art
She had only one final request: that God would remember her at the hour of her death.
Wake and funeral will be held in Hillside, IL for immediate family only. Interment to follow at Queen of Heaven Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation in her memory to the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society or St. Jude Children's Research Hospital.
