Rosalia "Rose" Jankovich of Hermitage passed away peacefully on May 15, 2024, at St. John XXIII Home. She was 101 years old.
Rose was born on October 24, 1922, in Farrell to Vincent and Mary Castiglione, one of their 12 children. Rose graduated from Farrell High School in 1940. After graduation, she worked as a secretary in the Farrell High School for over 35 years.
Rose married Sam Jankovich on August 20, 1960. They enjoyed a long and happy marriage until his death on March 18, 2018.
Rose always had a kind word for everyone and was sharp as a tack until her death. She enjoyed hosting family gatherings, the last big one to celebrate her 100th birthday.
Rose is survived by one sister, Marilyn Bunyak, Huntington Beach, CA. She is also survived by twelve nephews and nieces, Jim Amico, Bob Amico, Tim Castiglione, Amy Kenney, Dean Mercurio, Brian Mercurio, Carla Sinkovich, Chris Danchek, Kristine Bashwiner, Susan Galdys, Connie Jankovich and Lynn Reves, as well as ten great nieces and nephews and five great great nieces and nephews.
Besides her husband, she was preceded in death by six sisters, Josephine Amico, Cindy Kocis, Elizabeth Reale, Priscilla Danchek, Genevieve Mercurio and Audrey Morocco, and four brothers, Salvatore Castiglione, Charles Castiglione, James Castiglione, infant brother, Charly Castiglione and her nephews, Peter Jankovich and David Reves.
Special thanks to her nephew, Bob Amico, and the
staff of St. John XXIII for their care.
Per Rose's wishes, there will be no funeral service.
