Rose Marie Kenyon, 84, passed away on Wednesday, December 31, 2025 at West Hills Health and Rehab surrounded by her loving family.
Born September 12, 1941 in Eagan, TN, she was the daughter of the late Theodore Boyd Ridings and Bertha Marie Brown Ridings. In 1951, Rose and her family moved to Illinois. She fell in love with Harold Franklin Kenyon and they were married in 1958. They celebrated 62 years of marriage before Harold passed away in 2020.
Rose completed cosmetology school in 1972 and operated her own salon for over 20 years before retiring and moving to Clinton, Tennessee. While in retirement with Harold, they thoroughly enjoyed buying and selling at local flea markets, spending time with grandchildren, and always decorating for Christmas with much fervor. She was also known for her sense of humor and loving to have fun. In her later years, she colored hundreds of coloring books with her friends at Autumn Care Assisted Living.
Rose was a follower of Jesus and she loved her family deeply. She was a beloved wife, mother, mamaw, mother-in-law, sister, aunt, and friend.
She is survived by her children, Harold "Brian" (Jody) Kenyon, Knoxville, TN and Diana Lynn (Adam) Freels, Cynthiana, KY; grandchildren, Brandon Blake (Sarah) Kenyon, Brianna Nicole (Andrés) Valverde and Isaac Daniel Freels; great grandchildren, Greyson Carter, Saylor Kenyon, Santiago Valverde, and Elena Valverde. She is also survived by one brother, Boyd Wayne Ridings, one brother-in-law, Vince Jones, and by many nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by her sisters, Betty Ridings and Willa Jones, and brother, Bill Ridings.
The family will be receiving friends from 10:00-11:30 AM on Saturday, January 10, 2026 at Faith Promise Church, 10740 Faith Promise Lane, Knoxville, TN. A celebration of life service will follow at 11:30 AM.
