Rose Leis Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Krause Funeral Homes & Cremation Service, Inc. - Brookfield on Nov. 20, 2025.

Publish in a newspaper

Rose Mary Leis, a loving wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother, passed away on Friday, November 14th, 2025, at the age of 86, following a short illness. Her loving family was at her side. Rose was born December 19, 1938, to Theodore Joseph and Esther Amelia (Gilbertson) Schomers. Rose was one of three children, sister, Lois Schomers (deceased) and brother, Robert Lee (deceased).

Rosie, as we all knew her, lived a full beautiful life. She married the love of her life, James Herbert Leis, on June 14th, 1958. They had three amazing children Kevin, Cheri and Scott. Rosie worked for JCPenney when she wasn't busy raising her family. She loved to travel, entertain, cook, bake and dine out with her friends. She continued to be very social playing cards and Mahjong with her friends until her final weeks.

On Friday, November 14th at 10:55 AM, the world became a little emptier, and a little quieter. Rosie was more than a wife, mother, grandmother and Meema. She was a best friend, a confidant, a champion of children. She was the life of the party filling the room with her beautiful laugh. She is what made coming home for Christmas special. She was selfless with her time, whether she was helping watch her grandchildren or her neighbor's kids or baking for her friends, and neighbors. She was generous, almost to a fault, giving without any expectations, only to please or help out in a tough situation. Rosie was the rock of the family. She ran a tight ship and was dependable. Long into adulthood, her children, children's spouses, grandchildren friends and neighbors knew they could rely and depend on her. Yes, the world got a little emptier and quieter, but Heaven is a little brighter.

Rosie is survived by her children, Kevin (Jackie) Leis, Brookfield, WI, Cheri (Eric) Been, Nashotah, WI and Scott (Paula) Leis, Coal Valley, IL and by her grandchildren, Angela (Donald) Beers, Daniel (Chelsea) Leis, Erica Leis, Nicole (Travis) Conradt, Jamie (Leonardo) Aguilar, Tyler Been (Laken), Kory Leis, and Anthony Leis. Our beloved "Big Meema" will be missed by her great grandchildren Josephine Conradt, Leo and Rosie Aguilar, Ivy, Ozzy and Bea Beers, Margaret, Julian, and Millie Been, Rory Leis and Kash Leis who brought much joy to her life.

Rosie will be missed by her brother-in-law Kenneth Leis (Lil) and is preceded in death by her husband James H. Leis, parents Theodore and Esther, sister Lois brother, Robert and brothers-in-laws, Herbert Leis (Virginia), LeRoy Leis (Joyce), Walter Leis (Margaret), Paul Leis (Donna) , sisters-in-law Marie Whitehead (Glenn), Eleanor Leis, and Rose Hundt (John).

The family would like to thank the kind caregivers from ProHealth Care and the kind and compassionate staff of Angels Grace in Oconomowoc where Rosie comfortably rested until God called her home.

Visitation at Queen of Apostles Catholic Church, N35 W23360 Capitol Drive, Pewaukee, Wisconsin on Saturday, December 6, 2025 from 10:00 AM until time of Memorial Mass at 11:00 AM. Luncheon to follow at Krause Funeral Home, 21600 West Capitol Drive, Brookfield, Wisconsin.
