ST. ALBANS - Rose M. Mathieu, age 87, passed away on Tuesday, August 20th, 2025 at her home surrounded by her loving family.
Rose was born on April 2, 1938 to George and Sadie (Scott) William.
Rose enjoyed spending time with family, they were her pride and joy, especially her grandchildren. Rose enjoyed knitting, crocheting, and making hats and donating them to children. She especially enjoyed making baby blankets for the grandchildren, and great grandchildren. She loved to read, and would finish a book in a days' time. In her younger years she enjoyed fireworks and making candy and canning with her sisters Betty and Lois. Rose especially loved her great grandson Ben and great granddaughter Eleanor.
Rose is survived by her children, Don Martell and his wife Mary, Mark Martell and his wife Cindy, Roy Martell and his wife, Denise, Andy Martell and his wife Marta, Paul Martell and his wife Donna, and Alice Martell; sister, Lois Gerry; 30 grandchildren, 20 great grandchildren, and 10 great great grandchildren. Rose was predeceased by her parents, George and Sadie William; daughter-in-law, Lisa Lampman, and the rest of her siblings and their spouses.
Friends and family will be invited to Rose's life celebration to include a visitation on Tuesday, August 26th, 2025 from 1-3:00PM at the Goss Life Celebration Home. A graveside service will be held on Wednesday at 2:00PM at Riverside Cemetery, North River Street Swanton, VT.
The family would like to give a special thank you to Denise, from VNA Hospice for the care given to Rose.
