Of Carrick, 94, peacefully with her family at her side on Monday, May 8, 2023. Born Rose Marie Cardelli September 16, 1928 in Monessen, PA to her parents Louise and Angelo, she will be missed very much by her family and many dear friends. Married for 52 years to the late Regis Murphy, Rose is survived by their three daughters Kathleen Hammer (Vince), Linda Grusch (Mike), and Patti Murphy (Don Larizza). Forever "Mimi" to her grandchildren Michael Hammer (Kathy), Andrew Hammer (Allison), Kate Walsh (Patrick), Julie Grusch (Mike Gibson), and the late Danny Grusch; &and her great-grandchildren Halle (Luc), Casey, Eli, Bailey, Mary Claire, Jackson, Ryan, Michael (MJ), and Charlie. Sister of Dee Faia Parkins ("Aunt Dolly") of Santa Barbara, CA. Preceded in death by two brothers, Peter and Edward Cardelli. Also survived by many nieces, nephews, and cousins.
From the late 1950s almost consecutively through her retirement in 1994, Rose worked as administrative assistant ("secretary" back in the day), at St. Basil Elementary School and spent a few of those years working at the parish rectory office.
Rose faithfully followed the Pirates, the Steelers, and the Pennsylvania Lottery. She enjoyed playing cards, watching game shows, dancing at weddings, going to church then out for dinner on Saturday nights with friends. Then there's Rose'shuge eclectic collection of magnets that so many people contributed to through the years. Outings and laughter with her beloved grandkids and their spouses, especially casino outings, consistently held the top spot on her list of favorite things in life.
Friends received at BORON FUNERAL HOME, INC., 1719 Brownsville Road, Carrick,(412)882-1506 on Friday 2-8 PM. Funeral prayers on Saturday at 10 AM followed by a Mass of Christian Burial in Blessed Trinity Parish at St. Basil Church at 10:30 AM.
