Rose Marie (Coons) Smith-Bauer, age 82, of Corry, went home to be with her Lord Jesus on Friday, February 20, 2026 at Corry Manor, where she had been under Hospice care.

Born in Corry, PA on April 22, 1943, she was the daughter of the late Albert and Lucille (Wilover) Coons.

Raised and educated in Corry, PA, Rose attended Corry High School. Rose married George Robert Bauer on November 3, 2001 in French Creek, NY. She had worked at the Union City Boat Company and Tonnards in Corry. Rose was a member of the Full Fellowship Gospel Church in Corry and the New Life Assembly of God in Corry. She volunteered at the Corry Food Pantry for many years. She enjoyed sewing, fishing, playing Skip-Bo, Uno, Phase 10, and Yahtzee. She also enjoyed word puzzle books, crafting, and picnics & parties with family and friends. Rose had a heart of gold and would do anything for anybody. She really loved her dogs, Buddy, Peanut, and Lightning.

She is survived by her husband, George Bauer; her sons, Emmert Holmes of Grand Valley, PA and James Smith of Corry, PA; her daughter, Orletta Petty of Corsicana, TX; her brother, Donald Coons; her sisters, Viola Zelinski, Sally Fungaroli, and Mary Jackson; several grandchildren, great grandchildren, great-great grandchildren, nieces, and nephews.

In addition to her parents, Rose was preceded in death by her brothers, George Coons and Milton Coons; her sister, Betty Jean Coons; her late husband, James Smith, and her first husband, Emmert Holmes.

The family will hold a Celebration of Life for Rose at a later date.
