Rose Marie Weber, (Marie) age 82, joined her beloved husband Arthur Joseph Weber Sr. on March 30, 2023. Marie and Art had a storybook marriage filled with love and laughter for 50 years and surely their reunion will be as joyous as the life they shared. Marie was not only a dedicated wife, she was also an amazing mother, grandmother, aunt, neighbor and homemaker. Her life's mission was to was to protect and care for her family and friends. Her home was a welcoming haven for her many visitors. The door was always open and there was always a seat at the table, a cup of coffee at the ready, and often a bed for someone who needed it. She always set an extra plate at holidays "just in case" and she was sure to invite anyone she thought might be alone. Neighborhood children would knock on the door for a soda or a popsicle or a dish of ham and cabbage on St. Patty's Day and most all of them called her "Gram." All manner of kids would come to get help dressing for special events, including funerals, weddings, dances, proms and even Halloween. She kept a wide variety of suits and dress clothes in different sizes just so the grandchildren, their friends and neighborhood children would have appropriate clothing. All one had to do was ask, and she was ready, willing and able to lend a hand.
She was known as "Gram or Grammy" to countless people. When she was out and about, she would often hear that greeting, and amazingly, know who was issuing it. Even when they were just friends of friends of friends, she would know who they were. She was everyone's grandmother, blood or not.
Over the years, many people made their home with Marie. She welcomed friends of her children who had nowhere to go. Some stayed for a few months, and some stayed for a few years. She made a home for two of her brothers when they needed a place to live as well as providing a home to numerous grandchildren and even great grandchildren. She provided care in her home for two siblings in their final days and acted as nurse for new mothers and friends recovering from illness or injury. Her generosity of spirt was unmatched.
Marie's home was always the center of activity. For her children, the house was always filled with laughter, music and dancing. Family visited frequently, just to have fun. Cousins and friends never wanted to leave. She was hostess for many of the extended family baby showers, wedding showers, birthday parties and post- funeral life celebrations. She was always willing to open her home to bring comfort, joy and happiness. She was babysitter for almost all of her grandchildren and a number of the neighborhood children. She took the job of grandmother and babysitter very seriously. Her family called her house "Camp Grandmom." There was a pool, a basketball net, balls, bats, fishing poles, maypole, board games, card games, slip and slide, arts and crafts, and every grandchild had a bicycle to ride. She was determined to fill their lives with fun. They couldn't have asked for better childhood memories. Additionally, all of the children were taught to read, write, count and say their ABC's well before one would expect it to happen. She took such pride in how smart her charges became under her tutelage and would brag about all their accomplishments.
Marie was predeceased by her parents, Thomas Oscar and Veronica Barnett, her husband Arthur Weber Sr, her sons Arthur Weber Jr, and Ronn Weber. She was the last of eight children being predeceased by her sisters Mary Barnett, Grace Eill, Vera Tanzler, Sarah Slagel and her brothers James, Thomas and Harold (Mike, Butch) Barnett.
She is survived by her daughter, Laura Weber-Carnevale and son-in-law, Rocco Carnevale as well as her son, Robert Weber and his longtime partner, Linda Reahm, in addition to her grandchildren, Shayna, Vincent and Mechela Carnevale, Arthur Joseph Weber III, Melanie and Timothy Weber, Robert, Shawn, Rachel and Jessie Weber, Lauren Weber and Alexia Walter. She is also survived by numerous great grandchildren.
There will be an enormous hole in the world Rose Marie once filled, and she will be dearly missed by the many people whose lives she touched. Rose Marie did not want a funeral or a wake. She did not want people to mourn for her. Honoring her wishes, her family has decided to have a Garden Party on May 20th, 2023, at her home to celebrate her life well lived. It is their desire that her home would, for one last time, be filled with the love, laughter, food and music that defined Rose Marie. For those wishing to attend, please bring a photo and a memory to share. If you so desire, please feel free to make a donation to the
American Cancer Society in the name of Rose Marie Weber.
