Roselyn Lykken, age 81, of Sweeny, Texas. Beloved wife of Pastor David Lloyd Lykken. Devoted mother of Roy Thick and the late Christopher Thick. Caring grandmother of Joey, Oliver, Ryder, and Courtney. Great grandmother to Liliana. Dear sister to Norma, Rosalinda, the late Rosie and late brother Esquillo.
Born December 31, 1944 in Victoria, northern Samar, Philippines to the late Ignacia Arbol Esquillo and late Agripino Esquillo. Roselyn passed away February 16, 2026 at CHI St. Luke hospital in
Lake Jackson, Texas.
Roselyn married Kenneth Thick. They had 2 children Roy and Christopher. She later married David Lloyd Lykken on January 26, 1976.
Roselyn worked as a CNA for 21 years at The Lutheran Home in Arlington Heights, Illinois. She cared for older adults with Alzheimers. Roselyn was passionate about her job and cared for the residents as if they were her own parents.
Roselyn loved spending time with her husband David. They loved traveling together to see family and friends. Roselyn's favorite hobby was working in her garden. She would often share the vegetables she grew with church friends and family members.
Roselyn loved to sew. She sewed many of her own clothes. She also made many memory bears for others. Roselyn loved collecting angel figurines. She was a woman of faith. She loved the Lord and shared her faith with others. Her favorite hymn was "In the Garden."
Roselyn's favorite colors were green and blue. Roselyn loved to crochet. She crocheted many afghans as gifts to others. She was a great cook. She loved making foods from the Philippines. Her Lumpia was the best!
A proud moment in Roselyn's life was when she became an United States Citizen.
Her funeral service will be at 2:00 PM Sunday, March 1, 2026, at Trondhjem Lutheran Church in rural
Volin, SD. Visitation will begin one hour prior to the service.
