Rosemarie Gogarty

Rosemarie Gogarty, age 91, of Heartlands Senior Living, Ellicott City, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, December 2, 2025. Born April 11, 1934 in Bronx, NY, she was the daughter of the late John Baptist and Angelina (Maraventano) Mauro.

Rosemarie enjoyed a long career as a high school English, Speech and Drama teacher in New York and New Jersey. She loved her family immensely and in later years moved to Sykesville, Maryland to be closer to her grandchildren. Upon her arrival in Sykesville, she quickly discovered Saint Joseph Catholic Church and the Catholic Daughters of the Americas. Rosemarie devoted countless hours to her Church and the Catholic Daughters, eventually serving as the organization's Regent.

She is survived by her daughters, Joanne Gogarty of NJ, and Jacqueline Meyer and husband Jeffrey of Sykesville, MD; and grandchildren, Chris Rommel and Kevin Rommel and wife Hannah.

She was predeceased by her siblings, Frank Mauro and Lucy Valvano.

The family will receive friends on Friday, December 12, 2025, from 1 PM to 3 PM and 5 PM to 7 PM at Haight Funeral Home & Chapel, 6416 Sykesville Road, Sykesville. A Memorial Mass will be held on Saturday, December 13, 2025, at 11 AM at St. Joseph Catholic Church, 915 Liberty Road, Sykesville, where a luncheon will follow.
