Age 83

We are saddened to share that Rosemary Elizabeth Dowd, of Dearborn Heights, Michigan, passed away peacefully on February 28, 2026, in Royal Oak, Michigan, just three weeks after the passing of her beloved husband of 60 years, William. Their bond was unwavering, and many take comfort in knowing they are reunited once again.

Rosemary was born on June 9, 1942, in Detroit, Michigan, to Stephen and Elizabeth Vigh (Ribich). She grew up in Detroit alongside her brother, Steve.

In 1951, Rosemary met Bill when his family moved into the house across the street from hers. From childhood neighbors to lifelong partners, their relationship grew steadily over the years. They married in 1965 and shared 60 years of marriage devoted to family and one another.

She was the cherished mother of Jeff (Angie) and Lisa, and a proud and loving grandmother to Amanda, Kristin, Kallie-Anne (Jay) Krinsky, and Amelia-Grace Rockwell. Rosemary was also blessed with great-grandchildren, Logan and Riley, who brought her immense joy, along with her beloved grand-dog, Eddie. She will be deeply missed by her family, extended relatives, and many dear friends.

She is also survived by her brother, Steve (Judy), and was preceded in death by her sister-in-law, Bernie. Rosemary leaves behind many nieces and nephews who hold a special place in her heart.

Rosemary attended Western High School in southwest Detroit, where she was a cheerleader. She later earned an associate’s degree from Henry Ford Community College. Early in her career, she worked as an executive secretary at Ford Motor Company before dedicating many years as an office manager to a chiropractic practice, where she formed lasting friendships prior to her retirement.

Rosemary was devoted to her family. She was the ultimate Little League baseball mom, faithfully keeping score at every game Bill coached, proudly supporting her family from the sidelines. She was equally supportive of her children’s activities, attending Lisa’s figure skating events and Jeff’s hockey games, always cheering them on with pride. She also treasured time with her Tuesday morning bowling league, where she bowled weekly with friends for more than 20 years, forming friendships and memories she deeply cherished.

Rosemary lovingly cared for her husband through his health challenges, always placing the needs of others before her own. Her kindness, strength, and selflessness defined the way she lived her life.

Rosemary and Bill shared a love of travel and enjoyed trips to Las Vegas over the years. When they stayed closer to home, they could often be found at Casino Windsor, enjoying time together and making memories side by side.

Rosemary was dearly loved and will be remembered for her warmth, devotion, and feisty, sometimes stubborn spirit that kept family and friends smiling. Though her family grieves her loss deeply, they find comfort in knowing she is once again reunited with Bill, together after a lifetime spent side by side.

Visitation will be held on Tuesday, March 3rd, 2026, from 2:00 p.m. until the time of the funeral service at 5:00 p.m. at John N. Santeiu & Son Funeral Home, 1139 Inkster Road, Garden City (between Ford Road and Cherry Hill).
