Rosetta Hython West, 68, of Steubenville, formerly of Cadiz, was called home to be with the Lord on Saturday, Oct. 27, 2007 at the Carriage Inn of Steubenville. She was born October 7, 1939 in Cadiz, a daughter of the late John Floyd Hython, Sr. and Doris Wheeler Hython. She was a retired employee of Harrison Community Hospital in Cadiz, where she worked as a Dietician for twenty years. She was member of the Harrison Hills United Pentecostal Church in Jewett, where her pastor was Rev. J. Hugh Rose. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, James Austin West, Sr.; two sons, John Henry West, and Dwayne Paul West; a brother, John Floyd Hython, Jr. and her mother-in-law, Edna Mae Reed Good. Surviving are four daughters, Yvonne Carla West of Cadiz, Tara L. West, Thresa West and Stacey West, all of Steubenville; a son, James Austin West, Jr. of Las Cruces, NM; eleven grandchildren: Angel and Amber West, Austin McKenzie, Katara West, Lacretia West, John Elder, Sheyonna, Lavontae Toudie, all of Steubenville, and Travis Paul, Kory Scott, Devon Lucas West, all of Mercer, PA; one great grandchild, William Zion Austin McGhee of Steubenville; four sisters, Lillie Blackwell Pitts of Columbus, Virginia (Clarence) West of Columbus, Betty Hython of Cleveland, Ilene Hython of Mansfield; a brother, Darwin (Susie) Hython of Harrisburg, PA; a very special friend, Irene. Numerous nieces and nephews, cousins and friends will also cherish her memory. Friends may call Thursday, 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. at Clark-Kirkland Funeral Home, 172 S. Main St., Cadiz, Ohio. Funeral services will be held Friday, November 2, 2007 at 1:00 p.m. at St. James A.M.E. Church in Cadiz with Evangelist Tracey West officiating. Burial will follow at Cadiz Union Cemetery.
