Rosie Barkeit

Rosie Barkeit, 90 of Lena, IL and formerly of Pearl City, IL passed away on February 12, 2026, at Serenity Estates Lena (formerly Lena Living Center). She was born on May 18, 1935, in Chicago, IL, the daughter of Anton and Lily (Leibfried) Scheuring. Rosie married Horst F. Barkeit on March 30, 1957, in Chicago.

Rosie is survived by her daughter Lily (Barkeit) Rivera of Chicago, IL; son John Barkeit of Freeport, IL; grandchildren, Dawn (Ryan) Damiani of Aurora, IL and Tony (Samantha) Rivera of Coral Springs, FL; great-grandchildren, Jaden and Autumn Zayas, and Jameson Damiani; and cousin, Lynn Lyvers.

She was preceded in death by her husband Horst on April 17, 1996, parents Anton Scheuring on March 31,1977, Lily Scheuring on August 3, 1993, and sister Nancy (Scheuring) Dolgonos on June 8, 1996.

Funeral Service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday February 21, 2026 at the Leamon Funeral Home, 210 West Main Street in Lena, Illinois.

Officiating will be Rev. Tim Wauchope.

Cremation rites to be accorded.

Interment will take place at St. Mary's Cemetery in Pearl City, IL.

There will be a luncheon following at Cimino's Restaurant in Freeport, IL.
